There is only war

I have to say, the gameplay footage for the new DoW patch looks very cool.

There’s only one problem… I’m pretty close to a complete RTS n00b. The strategy and complexity in this game are what really appeals to me, but I’m not sure I can invest the time required to feel comfortable playing in this genre.

What do we think? Is it possible to make the jump to RTS? Or should we stay focussed on FPS and MMOs?

I thought the beta was pretty cool, but I’m more excited after hearing them talk about the gameplay tweaks of the new patch. It’s cool to watch experienced players in action. They are constantly on the move, pushing in and harassing, then fleeing when they know they are in over their heads.
I’d love to be able to play RTS like that. But I’m thinking I just don’t have the time/patience to learn all the unit types, counter combinations, endless lists of subtle abilities, buffs, upgrades and keyboard shortcuts.
Might just stick with FPS for now

I tend to find that with RTS I’ll only get into it a little bit but not get completely sucked in, I also get discouraged when I see the experinaced players own it up and anhilate me within a couple of mins…. lol
