What is it about Magic The Gathering that is so enthralling?
Is the the weird and wonderful artwork that adorns each card?
Or the mysterious and often whimsical quotes providing a glimpse of the wider MTG universe?
Maybe it’s the roller coaster ride of strategy, counter-strategy and counter-counter-strategy that the game can evolve into between well-matched opponents?
Or perhaps it’s the not-so-subtle ways in which they try to up sell, teasing you to buy the next expansion, or unlock the next card, pay to add bling (foil) and new gameplay, all the while progressing a far more subtle and sinister plan, feeding those deeply repressed urges to covet physical versions of the deck you meticulously planned in the virtual realm, sucking you back in one card at a time to the shadows of your once-forgotten past, you can’t deny it, you’re now teetering perilously on the brink of succumbing to the familiar indulgence, the collection infection, the ultra-nerdy, ultimate manifestation of the MTG agenda… RL dualing!!!!
Or maybe that’s just me.

No, I will not be dusting off cards (think I threm most of them away years ago). I like to keep my nerdom virtual.
I chucked mine too. But was feeling tempted to head down the comic book store and pick up a box of boosters… but who to play with? Keep it virtual is a good call. MTG Online might be a good way to take it further?
…actually you didn’t chuck them out. You left them at home. I kept them for awhile and now they are sitting in sam’s room if you want them back.

I would have thought money would be better sunk into the “Online” version as you will have more people to play with (Me, Tim, maybe Tobes)?

I’m still not comfortable sinking vast investments into virtual commodities. Sure, the whole money system runs that way, but I’m not entirely comfortable with that either
