The new mutation for Left 4 Dead 2 is “Last Man On Earth”

You will become legend to the infected as the last human left.
You are the only Survivor left in the world. No split screen help. No Survivor bots. But don’t worry you aren’t entirely alone. While there are no common Infected, Special Infected will hunt you down and become close, close friends with you.

It’s fun! But not co-op. A jockey jumped me straight away but it wasn’t an instant incap, although it takes your health right down the mutation lets you stay on your feet for a chance at revenge. Not many chances though.

Well, it’s all over. We didn’t place, but I think we did a top job — if I do say so myself. Can’t say I’m not disappointed, but they certainly picked 3 fine entries.

The best part is, I can now reveal the epic final submissions from our very own snappers…

I wanted the slogan for this poster to be a ‘call to action’, but I should have gone with frag_spawn’s suggested ‘motto’ instead, it was much funnier.

I lost the plot a bit here, but had fun with it, and managed to slip in a not-so-veiled reference to the Demo’s bagpipe if ya know what I mean. Initially there were two references — quite by accident I assure you, that was a soldier’s foot people!

I’ve decided to enter the TF2 propaganda contest. I have completed the artwork, but I need help with the slogan (slogans are hard!).

Unfortunately, the submission form is extremely limiting. We don’t seem to be able to enter as a group, and if I win, I don’t think I’ll be able to share the prize. That said, if they contact me for details, I’ll be sure to credit all contributions. Also, I’ve added a clansnap.com reference at the bottom so we can share the glory.

Two versions of the poster are available from the Members Only section. Please let me know which slogan you think is best. Or, if you have ideas for a different slogan that you’d like to contribute, please let me know. (Of course, I encourage you to enter separately if you wish, in which case, you should probably keep your awesome slogan ).

I will need to finalise the entry and upload Tuesday evening to be safe. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Valve have saved Christmas yet again this year by sliding a modified version of L4D2 past the Australian OFLC board!

Apparently the new version no longer contains depictions of decapitations, dismemberment, wound detail, or piles of bodies lying about the environment, which I believe is a fair compromise for awesome new maps, specials (apparently there will be a female Boomer) and gameplay (see Scavenge Mode).

The early histeria around this game was hilarious, but I have always been firmly in the Valve-usually-treat-us-right-plus-L4D2-represents-a-legitimate-full-new-game-so-I’m-more-than-happy-to-pay-for-it camp.

I think it’s fair to say I’m excited, and that No(one-left-behind)vember will be a good month!

Left 2 Die would be a better name than Left 4 Dead 2, amirite?

If you’ve been reading your Steam News updates you’ve probably seen most of this already, but I thought it was worth a repost…

And while I’m posting about Valve, I’d like to point out this extended Good Game interview with Valve CEO Gabe Newell. I found it quite interesting, I especially liked his explanation of why draconian DRM on games is teh sux0rz and why DRM promotes piracy. As noted elsewhere, it was also interesting to hear his suggestion that gamers could fund game development rather than publishers.
