Global Agenda is now 100% subscription free

Now we purchasers can play all of it for as long as we like. No fear of it becoming locked when subs are brought in.

Future content will be sold as expansion packs. But we get the rest of sandstorm free first.

Nice. I think. MMO without the sub. AvA anyone?

Global Agenda 1.3A

The first patch for “sandstorm” (aka Global Agenda 1.3) has landed on the public test server. I had a run. Unfortunately requires a new low level character so only level 5 med. Gameplay feels the same. Some UI has changed. If I had to sum it up in two pictures, it would be these:

Yes, cybercuts is open with new hairstyles and a second hair colour!

New UI for equipping stuff, and a new “handsfree” jetpack uses the jump key without requiring switching. The old school jetpack is still available. Additionally a “combat jetpack” can be bought that allows firing while flying.

Importantly, /jig is still the same, and now it announces to everyone “spiii starts to dance” — sweet!

In sad news, HiRez have stated High and Max PvE will require a subscription (though subscription content should be free for a month after the patch drops). Pretty sure when I paid for the game PvE was supposed to always be free … there’s a lot of negative reaction to that announcement, might be they’ll change their mind.

If not, well, the bus stop in The Ballad of Gay Tony might just be greater then /jig anyway!!

Long weekend gaming

So good to have a long weekend when there are so many good games to play!

Global Agenda — couple of us have dug in and held our ground, like in this screenie.

The rewards? Um, well, not enough armour plates and scrap!

L4D2 “The Passing” DLC — new campaign, golf club, scavenge maps, m60 and mutations!

Tidy campaign. Check out the wedding scene in the storm.

Not to mention GTA IV DLC has finally made it to PC! Wheee

How do you solve a problem like Global Agenda?

So Spiii took me for a run in Global Agenda PvE in the wiii hours of this morning. My first time back in quite a while.

I have to say, they have tweaked the balance and it’s a lot more enjoyable. The enemies (including specials) are easier to dispatch and they don’t seem to dish out quite as much damage. I didn’t die as often either — granted this was likely largely due to Spiii medicing me as I played Kamikaze style Recon. Another good example is there are no longer roaming sensors in High Security. Suffice to say the difficulty curve has definitely shifted.

With a balanced team (Assault, Medic, Robo, Sniper Recon) these missions see a lot more action without the difficulty becoming overwhelming. Which in my books = fun.

Apparently though, AvA still sucks. Even Psypher thinks so, and he’s the head of the lead Agency from the I Alliance (currently one of the top Alliances on Citadel Zone).

Be interesting to see what changes the Sandstorm release will bring.

Hope y’all having a safe and fun holiday!

If you’re quick you can nab some rare (blue) upgrades in Global Agenda — that’s as good as it’s gonna get from spiii this Easter (unless you actually come into the game for meds and help me nab a pain gun!).

I just cracked 100 crafting points in armour so there are some freebies in the agency bank. I’ve run out of materials again though. Still enjoying the grind, quite fun in high and max security. Specially when the Think Tank goes nuts, as you can see in this (poor quality) video.

Last week Toby unwittingly shared his thoughts on Global Agenda with us. It would appear the tables have been turned as I now have to give some unexpected support to Team Fortress 2.

Hey, a snap poll — that’s a poll just for us! Actually they called it a flash poll, but close … !

Be quick, fill out the Global Agenda Survey — tell them what you like and — for Funballs especially — don’t like. Maybe they’ll improve? They certainly have been asking a lot lately, so I reckon they are keen to cater to players and get numbers up. They’ll have to be quick, with The Passing and Episodes from Liberty City due to drop late March!

Meanwhile I’m still plugging away with my med now. She’s 16. Uh, level 16. Medium security PvE is so mellow, it’s like therapy. Gaming therapy.
