snap poll for Global Agenda

by spiii, 25 February 2010 @ 21:23

Hey, a snap poll — that’s a poll just for us! Actually they called it a flash poll, but close … !

Be quick, fill out the Global Agenda Survey — tell them what you like and — for Funballs especially — don’t like. Maybe they’ll improve? They certainly have been asking a lot lately, so I reckon they are keen to cater to players and get numbers up. They’ll have to be quick, with The Passing and Episodes from Liberty City due to drop late March!

Meanwhile I’m still plugging away with my med now. She’s 16. Uh, level 16. Medium security PvE is so mellow, it’s like therapy. Gaming therapy.

Steaming fresh beta, better?

by irama, 24 February 2010 @ 22:42

So there’s a fresh new Steam rising over the horizon. Beta is ready and waiting for you. All you have to do for a sneak peak is open Steam, then go to: Settings > Account > Beta participation > CHANGE… and select UI Update then restart.

So far, seems more responsive than the old Steam. Prettier in some respects, no theme selector though. The integration of different information into the games library is a nice touch.

If you give it a go, let me know what you think?

Global Agenda – A Review

by Ali, 20 February 2010 @ 16:35

All,

As most of you would know, there has been much discussion amoungst the clan regarding the merits, or otherwise, of Global Agenda since its release a few weeks ago. Fumbles put forward his case for the negative to us last night in this thought-provoking video. Enjoy.

That is all,
Ali

I was kissing her. Are you stoned?

A belated welcome to Darxtorm!

Darxtorm joins us from the deep dark south, jointly a fan of zombies and baking culture references (you know, like which herb or bowl to use, etc).

In his spare time, Darxtorm plays Milanese Mandolin and crafts papier-mâché elephant foot umbrella stands. He has also been known to hack corporate firewalls in order to gain access to vast stores of emailed lolcats.

If you bump into him online, say g’day. I’m sure he’d be keen to join you for a round of TF2 or L4D!

Running commentary

  1. first up, respect JP, for getting irama on facebook (even if just admitting to watching a video).

secondly, we totally need to start using some of these techniques at work — headsets, and names above our heads, and respawning at boost when we need immunity packs.

  2. I don’t see the connection, but that vid is hilarious. Especially liked the baby shower raid / leeroy jenkins at the end :D

  3. Oh, no Irama? try this on for size.

  4. Driving games are not my favourite genre, but that looks like a lot of fun!

So Valve are thinking about Portal 2. That should be out just in time for Christmas 2016.

I would settle for something that completely f#@ks up spys.

  7. I wonder what engy’s will get … I reckon the risk of leaving nests unprotected could be mitigated a little by alarms and/or booby traps. but I’m sure valve will figure something better. oh, they should give the engy a banjo :)

  8. I like the new overlay, good to have a clock in it too! and now we can web browser with safety (webkit) while waiting on loads and stuff … actually, overlay is still inaccessible during loading. ah well, apart from that (which is no change) I like it!

  9. Ahh that probably explains why it’s more responsive now :D

  10. have only had a quick look myself …
store redesign seems interesting. I like the downloads info (under library > downloads), finally exposing the download size and download rates!

very interested to read they’ve switched to webkit from IE for rendering … :)

  11. I put my comment in a while ago, something along the lines of I’m an adult therefore I should be able to chose what I do and don’t play. I do believe that it’s the parent’s job to chose what their child can and cannot play, don’t give kids computers or consoles in the bedroom, have it in an open area where you can keep an eye on things.

  12. Well said!

  13. FYI, these are my comments:

I believe there are games available today as MA15+ that should be rated R18+.

As an adult gamer and parent, I am disappointed twofold by superficial edits being made to adult games allowing them to be classified as “lower impact” and thus available to minors: (1) the (adult) game experience often suffers as a result, (2) the government is…

  14. Turns out (by chance) Plants vs Zombies for iPhone was released on the date of my first comment (1 month ago). Freaky!

  15. Good review Fumbles, but you should have included the Ali hiding from the spider in the bin. And by “hiding” I mean the hiding the spider was giving him ;)
